We Indians love food which is spicy. And how can we leave a spice less tea recipe? There is no special instruction in India on making a cup of Masala Tea. People from every corner of India used their own version of spices available to make Masala tea to match their taste preference. There's no doubt, therefore, that the taste of tea varies from one tea stall to another, from home to home.
Ingredients for preparing Masala Tea:
- Cinnamon
- Cardamom pods
- Cloves
- Ginger
- Anise
- Tea
- Milk(Almond /oats /soy Milk also we can use)
- Sugar/honey according to taste
Optional
- Mint leaves
- Tulsi
- Lemon grass
Step by step procedure for Masala Tea preparation:
- Take 1 inch cinnamon, 2 to 3 green cardamom pods , 4 cloves and 1 inch ginger. Place everything, except ginger, in a mortar. Crush them with a pestle until they split into tiny pieces and produce a striking aroma. Crush the ginger, or cut it into tiny bits.
- Heat 2 cups of water (250ml) and 2 and 1/2 cups of milk in a saucepan or small pan with handle.
- Let the water and milk mixture boil. Boil the mixture for another 2 to 3 mins.
- Now add the spices which are crushed. Based on your preference, you can also add some mint leaves, tulsi or lemon grass.
- Now add sliced ginger and boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Apply sugar or honey according to taste. Add 2 or 3 teaspoons of raw sugar. Depending on the sweetness you like, you can add more or less.
- Now add 2 teaspoons of Assam Tea / Darjeeling Tea, or any tea you might have. Boil 2 to 3 minutes. This boiling time depends on how strong you want your tea. If you prefer a strong intense tea, then simmer eat for a few minutes.
- Pour the tea directly into the cup using a tea strainer.
- Serve hot masala chai tea with some snacks such as pakoda,samosa,mixture,biscuit ,bun,cookies or Maggi, according to your preference.
